Rangers are delighted to announcement the appointment of former Priaulx manager and club stalwart Darren Ogier in a new Football Director role. Mr Ogier, will have a broad remit but specifically focus on senior football to ensure that the club builds on and sustains a solid senior coaching set up.
“I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring together a really strong coaching and football structure for the start of the 24/25 season,” said Mr Ogier.
The first team responsibilities announced with Charlie on Monday and the appointment of Zico as U18 lead last week, provides Rangers with a very strong and collaborative approach for our pathway to senior football,” said Mr Ogier.
In my experience, Rangers is a lovely club with some hugely dedicated people. Looking forward, it is absolutely vital that we continue to build on and enhance a strong club ethic and this will be one of my priorities. We have recently achieved an awful lot in a short time, our youth set up is looking strong, we have more minis than ever before, with over 150 turning out every Saturday, a great Vets team and we’ve brought in some very good coaches,” said Mr Ogier.
In the last two seasons Rangers have been playing first team and U18 matches at KGV and will continue to do so moving forward.
“We’ve always been a club with two homes and while St Andrews is integral for our social football and can be used as a training base and a venue for events, our priority for first team and U18 squads will be KGV playing fields. We also acknowledge that we need more of a club presence and we have plans to make this even more of a home for Rangers,” said Rangers President Jono Robilliard.
Mr Ogier was the principal founder of the Rangers Sevens Festival and was an integral figure in developing some of the most recent talent to leave the Rangers production line.
“Over the years Rangers have had the good fortune to coach and work with some fantastic players, many of which are now playing at other clubs. Sadly, we have recently suffered from players leaving the club at a senior level. Clearly therefore, it is absolutely crucial for our long term success that we improve our offering, not only to ensure players remain at the club but also to encourage others to join. Fundamentally, our role is to provide a great footballing experience for everyone, both stronger and not so strong players. And, where we can, to help players achieve the highest level of football open to them whether that is Railway, Priaulx, GFC or even further afield. There’s plenty of work to do and I’m looking forward to the challenge,” said Mr Ogier.
